Early 19th century miniature sampler. Signed by the maker,  "Susan Rose Aged 11 Sept th 25 1804".  It appears to be embroidered in cotton thread on a linen ground.  There are two sets of alphabets, a verse, and floral motifs at the bottom corners.

The sampler seems to be mounted on some kind of board and then sealed with paper. Attached along the front edges are strips of early linen that are either printed or stamped with fern leaves; there is a line of embroidery down the middle of each strip.   I have not seen a sampler framed in this way before, and like the feeling it evokes.

The size of the actual sampler is 5.5" x 5.25"; frame 6 7/8" x 7". The colors are vibrant and there is no stitch loss . . . i
t is rare to find an early sampler, particularly a miniature one, in this exceptional condition
