19th century pine wall hanging box. Conforming scalloped front and back boards, early red painted surface with excellent craquelure. Constructed with tiny t-head nails. Well-worn hanging hole. The base is chamfered and extends a bit beyond the body of the box so that it sits attractively on a table. Paint wear inside the box indicates that the box was most likely used to store utensils; it also makes an attractive display for candles, painted treen pieces, or textiles.
Provenance: Long time Private collection. Dimensions: w 14” x d 6” x h 8.5”.
